I confess that I'm not sure what this film is about. A couple go to view a house they wish to buy. For reasons unclear to me they are invited to the house at midnight. While there they find a body. Other people come to the house, some as potential buyers, others for more sinister reasons. More and more people arrive, and obviously a criminal plot is afoot. But I just can't figure out what. When we find out that an illegal railway station is hidden underground beneath the house my head started spinning. What was Hitchcock doing? Is this a comedy or a murder mystery?
